You alright everyone so last weekend I had one of the best experiences ever—I went to my very first concert ever, and it was for Gunna, my favourite artist! Let me take you through the whole thing.
First things first the whole idea of going to the concert was a surprise to me my girlfriend who knows how much I like Gunna's music, so when we were driving home one night a couple weeks before the concert and I was singing my heart out to DS4 she told me but I couldn't believe it. We listened to Gunna the rest of the night!
The concert was held at the Orlando Kia Centre, a huge arena with a buzzing atmosphere. Walking into the venue, I could feel the energy and anticipation in the air. It was packed with fans from all walks of life, everyone pumped up for a night of great music and a couple drinks ;). I managed to dodge the spoilers from other tour dates on what is happening on set but when Gunna came out it was insane to get such a close-up view of him performing.
When Gunna finally came out, the crowd went wild. He kicked off with Bittersweet a new personal favourite of mine and some of his biggest hits from the new album Gunna - 5 Takeaways From The New Album, and let me tell you, hearing those songs live was a whole different vibe to just listening on your headphones. I always wondered why would I pay to go to a concert when I can just listen to it on my phone but after this, I understand why, it just has a different feel to it the lyrics hit that much harder. His voice was just as smooth and chill as it is on his tracks, but seeing him perform in person brought a whole new level of appreciation for his talent. The stage setup was unreal, with the dim lighting and the yeti/goat-like thing on stage then the spotlight hit Gunna as he walked in and the floor crowd rushed over to the stage, the bass thumping so loud you could feel it in your bones. Then to top it all off they pulled back the curtain and we saw this giant sculpture of his head it was nuts.
One thing that struck me was how Gunna’s music connects people from different backgrounds. In the crowd, there were fans of all ages and races, listening together to the same beats. It felt like a celebration of not just Gunna’s music, but also of the cultural impact hip-hop has on communities worldwide. A significant part of Gunna's story is his resilience. He had been in prison for about a year, and during that time, some fans doubted if he could make a strong comeback, I stood strong through it all. But Gunna proved them wrong, coming out with new music that reinvigorated his career. His latest tracks were a testament to his growth and determination, showing that despite the setbacks, his passion for music remained undiminished Gunna: Rapper released from jail in guilty plea deal.
As I soaked in the atmosphere and enjoyed every moment, I couldn’t help but think about how music transcends borders. Me a young black man much like Gunna, coming from humble beginnings albeit in England and being able to listen to music I have listened to for over 5 years now. Leaving the concert, I felt lowkey exhausted, my voice was tired but I was grateful for the opportunity to witness such an incredible performance. It was a night filled with unforgettable memories and a newfound appreciation for live music. Gunna not only lived up to my expectations but exceeded them in every way possible. If you’ve never been to a concert before 10/10 would recommend. It’s an experience that’s both thrilling and eye-opening, where you get to immerse yourself in the music and culture that defines an artist’s journey.
